Session 1:

Monday, June 21 2021, 19-20h

“I took a stack of failed prints on paper from a recent work, an old tube of white acrylic paint and attempted to start painting over the images so when the paint dries, I could reuse the paper again in the future for drawing or painting or writing.

During the one hour, I painted 43 pieces of paper. ”

Session 2:

Monday, July 5 2021, 19-20h

“It was a long day and I wanted to listen to some nostalgic songs from my youth so I decided to play some songs on shuffle from a Spotify playlist I made a long time ago. During the one hour, I attempted to write out the lyrics as the songs were being played but eventually I couldn’t keep up and I got very exhausted towards the end. Looking back, I managed to listen to 11 songs and 2 Spotify advertisements.”

Session 3:

Monday, July 19 2021, 19-20h

“I will be leaving the Netherlands and heading back to Singapore very soon. I'm starting to feel a bit sentimental about everything as I look around my room, knowing that I will be leaving in about a month. I decided to use the failed prints that were repainted from the first session and for one hour, I sat at my desk, started writing down and photographing my observations of certain objects that make up my room.”

Session 4:

Monday, August 2 2021, 19-20h

“Sing all of the songs that I have collected from other members to have a 1 hour solo karaoke.”

Ryan’s practice is an attempt in collecting encounters and activities in specific moments of everyday life. By reconfiguring these moments, newly formed narratives, characters, compositions and situations are formed in Ryan’s works.
